Waraq Privacy Policy

Waraq (“the app”) is developed and published by Sabaat IT Solutions (“sabaat.io”). This policy explains how Waraq handles your information. The short version: Waraq does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any of your data. Everything stays on your device.

Summary

• Local-first. Your library, reading positions, bookmarks, highlights, notes, and pen (ink) annotations are stored only on your device.
• No data collection. Waraq has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no usage telemetry.
• No account. There is no sign-up or sign-in. We don’t know who you are.
• No servers. We operate no servers that receive your information. The app works fully offline.
• No ads, ever.

Information we collect

None. Waraq does not collect or transmit any personal data or reading content. We have no way to see your books, what you read, your highlights, your notes, or your annotations.

What is stored on your device (only)

The following is created and kept locally on your device, under the app’s private storage, and is never sent to us or anyone else:

• Your book library: the files you import, their metadata, and cover images.
• Reading positions and progress.
• Bookmarks, highlights, and notes.
• Pen / ink annotations and layers.
• Your collections (shelves) and reading status (Favorites / To Read / Have Read).
• App settings and preferences.

If you uninstall the app, this data is removed by the operating system.

File access

Waraq only accesses files that you explicitly choose — either by picking them with the system file picker, or by sharing them to Waraq from another app. Waraq does not scan, index, or read any other files on your device, and it does not request broad storage permissions.

Permissions

Waraq requests no sensitive runtime permissions (no location, contacts, camera, microphone, or phone). It registers as a target in the system “share” menu so you can send a book or document to it, and it can open external web links (for example, our website) in your browser. Opening a web link hands the address to your browser — a separate app — Waraq itself does not fetch web content.

Analytics and crash reports

This version of Waraq does not include analytics or crash reporting, and sends no diagnostic data. If a future version adds optional crash reporting, it will be off by default, disclosed in this policy before it ships, and will never include your reading content or personal information.

Device backups

If you have your device’s system backup enabled (for example, Android Backup to your personal Google account), the operating system may include Waraq’s on-device data in that backup. This is controlled entirely by your device settings and your own cloud account — not by Waraq, and not by us.

Third parties

Waraq does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking software, and does not share data with any third party. We do not sell your data — there is nothing to sell, because we don’t collect it.

Children’s privacy

Waraq is suitable for all ages and is not directed at children specifically. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects no data from children.

Your control over your data

• Export: you can export a complete backup of a book and its annotations at any time as a .waraqbundle file you fully control (Settings / book menu → Export).
• Delete: because all data is local, uninstalling the app removes it. There is no server-side data to request or delete — we hold none.

Future, optional features

Waraq’s roadmap includes optional features such as cloud sync and AI-assisted reading. None of these are part of the current version. If and when they are added, they will be opt-in and off by default, and this policy will be updated to describe exactly what data is involved and where it goes, before those features ship.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and publish the new version at this address. Material changes will also be noted in the app.
